Manufacturers produce Moisture Resistant MDF, or MR MDF for short, using the same methods as its Standard MDF counterpart. The crucial difference in the process being the use of a moisture resistant binding agent and a much higher-pressure pressing process.

Because it is resistance to moisture, you can use it in bathrooms and kitchens and other areas or rooms prone to humidity. The same quality also makes it easier to paint as it reduces the effort needed to get a good finish on the edges.

The increased density of moisture resistant MDF also provides a better finish when machining in the face, especially if the finished product is to be painted. A good example of this would be Dado rail or skirting boards.
